Angus, Hereford and Angus/Hereford cross cattle
Dan and Clarissa continue grandpa's tradition of raising Black Angus cattle today. When they got married, Clarissa also convinced Dan to purchase Herefords! Now they raise Angus/Hereford cross cattle along with the Black Angus.
The cattle are raised on grass until they are 500 to 700 pounds, at which time they are weaned and moved to a different pasture where they are put on a grain based grower/finisher ration.
The ration consists of locally-sourced corn and supplements. We grind the corn and mix the ration right here on the Ranch. The cattle are also fed some distillers and hay for filler.

Our pigs are purchased at weaning time from a local Farmers and Ranchers in Nebraska. They are the comedy of the ranch, always trying to escape! This in turn shows Dan all his fence building flaws. Clarissa, on the other hand grew up building hog fence with her grandparents as they raised hogs, farrow to finish for years.
Our pigs are dirt raised with a provided shed for shelter. That means our pigs are allowed to run around outside in a pen where they have access to fresh air and dirt, allowing them to grow at their own pace and in a more natural environment. Pigs love to rut and dig holes to lay in especially in the summer time when we make them mud holes to keep cool in!

They love to get large round bales to destroy and play in!
